Fujiguys I own F70EXR. Why does Fuji describes F80 as having 28mm thickness in their specs as opposed to F70’s 23mm, which made F70 the smallest camera with 10x lens. The 23mm thickness was very attractive feature and one of the reasons that I take my F72EXR with me when I go out (23mm thickness) vs my Panasonic ZS3 (32mm thickness) these days. F80 has the same lens, why a thicker camera? Or did Fuji made a mistake in specs and it is the same 23mm?
Good catch absolutic, the F70 and F80 have the same thickness, 23mm. The 28mm quoted was information from prior to launch and turns out to be incorrect. Thanks!
It appears that the thickness is, in fact, 28mm at the thickest part (with the lens closed). It is 23mm in the thinnest part. So both are correct. Because Nikon just announced their 10x zoom digicam which they claim is 27.3mm thick maximum and the smallest 10X zoom today. Until of course someone comes up with 27.2mm …..
great camera…was about to buy the F70
but that one didn’t have HD movie capture
glad the F80 does
can’t wait to get me this camera !!
Fujiguys…question for you guys…
1°) is there a Panorama Shooting Mode available on the F80/F85EXR like in the new JX200/205 ?? If no…no possibility to take panorama shots ?
2°) does it have blink detection like again in the JX200/JX205 ??
@FordFiestaS There is no Panorama Shooting Mode on the F80/F85EXR digital camera. There is also no blink detection but it does have the latest Face Detection Technology to quickly detect faces in the scene. After playback, you can push the “Face Detection” button to quickly zoom between faces in the scene. You can use this to determine if you have any subjects that blinked or did not smile.
I’m considering buying this F80exr, but was wondering if you can zoom while recording the movie like the one on the F70exr (but with no zoom sound interruption)?
@Aroonkong You can zoom while recording movies on the F80exr, depending on how noisy or quiet the scene you are filming is, you may get some zoom sound or noise while the camera adjusts focus.
Thank you very much. Can’t wait to get this camera!
Hi, I think Fuji is going in the right direction, but this camera seems to lack a few things that I assume will show up in a future model:
a. CMOS sensor with lower megapixel to reduce noise.
b. H264 HD video with stereo (hopefully not .MOV) @ 60p or higher.
c. Panorama is a nice to have.
d. Nicer LCD/LED 3″ screen.
Essentially similar features found on the HS10 squeezed into the F80 body.
I love Fuji picture quality and look forward to their future products.
